Trenton Man Fatally Shot In Weekend Gunfire, Also Approaching Annual Record

One of the victims from Sunday's  shooting on the South Side was pronounced dead on Monday evening, authorities said.

The shooting occurred at approximately 12:45 a.m. in front of Diamond in the Rough bar in the 500 block of Lamberton Street, according to the Mercer County Homicide Task Force. 

Police responded to a Shot Spotter activation at that location and arrived to find an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. 

He has been identified as Hector Torres, 43, of Trenton. 

He was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was in critical condition on Sunday.

A second adult male victim was brought into Fuld hospital with gunshot wound to the neck. He was in stable condition.

The incident is being investigated by the Shooting Response Team and the Mercer County Homicide Task Force.

In all of 2020, Trenton suffered 40 murders, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office: A total of 36 of the confirmed murders were attributed to fatal shootings.

In the first 10 months of this year, there have been 34 confirmed homicides of which 33 were fatal shootings.
